KNUST 52ND CONGREGATION - JULY, 2018

THE KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, KUMASI announces for the information of 2018 Graduands and the General Public that it would hold its 52nd Congregation from TUESDAY, JULY 10TH to SATURDAY, JULY 14TH 2018. GRADUANDS who completed their Programmes of Study in May, 2018 would be presented at the Ceremony. Accordingly, those who wish to be presented are requested to register and pay GH₵300.00 in CASH at any of the following banks: ECOBANK, GCB, UBA, CAL BANK, HFC, BARCLAYS BANK, UNIBANK, GT BANK GHANA and STANDARD CHARTERED BANK. After payment, Graduands are to log onto the KNUST portal and print their receipt which should be presented at their VARIOUS COLLEGES to collect their Academic Robes and other Graduation items. However, Graduands of KNUST School of Business, Faculty of Law, College of Health Sciences and the Institute of Distance Learning are to present their payment slip at the Casely-Hayford Building (IDL) and collect their gowns and other items. ...

World Bank Donates $500,000 To Kumasi Business Incubator (KBI)

The World Bank has donated Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) to the Kumasi Business Incubator (KBI) Centre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to sponsor young innovative students with business ideas. The money which came through the Ministry of Communications is to help the KBI Centre further its aim of supporting student entrepreneurs. Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso, Vice-Chancellor, signed the contract for the money on behalf of KNUST. Prof. Obiri Danso expressed his gratitude to the representatives from the World Bank for their noble act. He then challenged the ICT Department at KBI Centre to come up with a Tracking App which would make it easier for students to track shuttle buses operating on campus at any point in time.  Mr. Samuel Yaw Akomea, Head of KBI Centre, said that, the Centre organises mentorship programmes where experts are brought from the private sector to train students at the Centre. GNPC To Establish A Research Chair In Petroleum Engineering The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is to establish a Research Chair in Petroleum Engineering at the College of Engineering (CoE) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). This came to light at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions for academic-industry research cooperation for national development. Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso and Mr. Ben Andoh signed on behalf of KNUST. Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong and Ms. Matilda Ohene signed for GNPC. Per the MoU, the fund shall be used to support salary implementation, research work in Petroleum Engineering, guest lecturers to augment the teaching and supervision of petroleum Engineering, scholarship and stipend to graduate students, conferences and workshops. UDS SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH JAKSALLY

The University for Development Studies (UDS) has signed an agreement with Jaksally, a local non-Governmental organisation operating in the Northern, Upper West and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana. The agreement, which was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UDS, Professor Gabriel Teye and the Programme Coordinator of Jaksally, Mr. Jeremiah Abubakar Seidu is to ensure collaboration in the training, internship and research work of students and staff of both parties. The agreement also allows both parties to exchange information on local resource mobilization methods focusing on Village savings and Loans (VSLA), as well as research on how VSLA can be used to support development locally. The focus of the agreement will be on areas such as microfinance, local resource mobilization, grassroots governance, advocacy for women and community leaders, implementation of practical climate change working techniques and technologies and the development of environment enterprises studies.
